WatchDeck privacy policy
Last updated: October 12, 2026
WatchDeck is a Chrome extension that saves the YouTube videos you open so you can close tabs and watch them later,
and a web app that shows the same list on any device. This policy explains what data they handle, where that data goes,
and how to delete it.
Data stored in your browser
For each YouTube video you open or save, WatchDeck stores the video's ID, title, channel name and ID, YouTube category,
length, where you stopped watching, whether you've finished it, when you opened and finished it, how many times you opened it,
and how much of it you actually played. It also stores daily totals of videos opened, videos finished and time watched,
plus your WatchDeck settings.
WatchDeck reads this only from YouTube pages (youtube.com). It does not read any other website.
All of this is kept in your browser's extension storage on your computer.
Data that leaves your browser
- YouTube. When you save a video without opening it (for example from a link), WatchDeck asks YouTube for the
video's title, channel, category and length.
- Sync (optional, off by default). If you turn on sync, your saved videos (the details listed above) and your daily
totals are sent to and stored on WatchDeck's sync server, which runs on Convex in the United States.
The data is linked to random sync keys that WatchDeck creates for each browser. The server stores a one-way hash of each key,
never the key itself.
- Sign in with Google (optional). If you sign in with Google, in the extension or the web app, WatchDeck asks Google
only for your email address and account ID. The sync server stores them so all your browsers and the web app open the same list.
WatchDeck gets no other access to your Google account and never sees your Google password. Without Google sign-in, your list
is linked to no name, email address or account.
- Gemini (optional). If you add your own Google Gemini API key and click Re-sort with Gemini, the titles and
channel names of your unwatched videos are sent to Google's Gemini API with your key to get category names. That request is
governed by Google's terms for the Gemini API. Your key is stored only in your browser and is never sent to WatchDeck's server.
Nothing else leaves your browser. WatchDeck has no analytics, ads or tracking.
The web app
The web app shows your synced list. After you sign in, it keeps a sign-in key in your browser's local storage until you sign
out; signing out deletes the key from the server too. It loads video thumbnails from YouTube (i.ytimg.com) and uses no cookies.
What WatchDeck does not do
- It does not sell or share your data with anyone.
- It does not use your data for anything other than WatchDeck's features: saving, organizing and syncing your videos.
- It does not use your data for advertising, credit or lending decisions.
Keeping and deleting your data
- Data in your browser stays until you remove videos, clear watched videos, or uninstall WatchDeck (which deletes it).
- Synced data stays until you delete it. In WatchDeck's Settings, Turn off and delete synced copy deletes everything stored for
your list from the server, including the Google email address linked to it.
- You can export your data as JSON from Settings at any time.
Security
All connections use HTTPS. Anyone who has your sync key can see and change your synced list, so keep it private.
Children
WatchDeck is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
